“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.” 2 Timothy 2:4-5 (KJV)
We cannot afford to be spiritually mediocre, we must master the things of the spirit for us to prevail on earth. We need a soldier mentality and also an understanding of spiritual laws to avoid spiritual mediocrity. Soldiers go through training that civilians don’t. This is what builds resilience in them and also the capability to strategically win in battles. The training is done in a simulated environment for the kind of hardship they may face in battle. Now it becomes difficult for the army when the soldiers begin to drop discipline and copy civilians in their way of doing things. This is the situation of the church and the world today. This explains why the church is losing power, specifically in matters relating to worldliness and sinful lifestyles.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;).” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4KJV
“This book of the law shall not
depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that
thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then
thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
Joshua 1:8KJV
A carnally-minded soldier is in danger of becoming a casualty in the midst of battle. You must discipline yourself in the word and in prayer for you to develop the spiritual mind of a faithful Christian soldier on earth. This is where your spiritual mastery lies. You cannot copy the way of the world for any reason. Our kingdom is higher and superior to this world. Our kingdom is everlasting, beginning from temporal to extending into eternity.
You are a soldier of the Lord, may you master spiritual discipline in Jesus' name.
Prayer for today: Oh God, deliver me from carnality and worldliness in Jesus' name.
Salvation: Lord Jesus, I believe in the
forgiveness of sin and in the redemption from the power of darkness through
your blood. I confess you as my Savior and Lord. I invite you into my life to save my soul.
Holy Spirit, come into my heart and make me what you want me to be. Thank you
Lord for saving me in Jesus name.
