The Necessity of Prevailing

“Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's:)” 1 Chronicles 5:1-2 KJV

You must prevail to receive the promises, enforce your rights, and become who God wants you to be.  As a Christian, your second birth gives you rights and privileges in the kingdom of God. However, what is the importance of a right you have but cannot enjoy? The sceptre belongs to those who prevail, not those who have rights. That is why you must prevail with God and with men if you want to enforce your rights and receive the promises. Reuben was supposed to have the birthright, but he lost it to iniquity, he slept with his father’s wife. Joseph got the birthright, but he could not enforce it, he did not prevail. He had the document but did not have its reality. However, Judah prevailed; he had the reality, although he did not have the document.

I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.” Ecclesiastes 10:7

“And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.” Genesis 32:28

As a Christian, many things are yours according to the scriptures, but where is the reality in your life? You must prevail with God and with men if you want to enjoy what has been written concerning you. Jacob was blessed years before he entered the reality of the blessing. Until he prevailed, he was living as if he had not been blessed.

May you prevail to experience the blessings of God in your life in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for today: Oh God empower me to prevail with You and with men in Jesus' name.

Salvation: Lord Jesus, I believe in the forgiveness of sin and in the redemption from the power of darkness through your blood. I confess you as my Savior and Lord.  I invite you into my life to save my soul. Holy Spirit, come into my heart and make me what you want me to be. Thank you Lord for saving me in Jesus name.
