The ministry of altars 5

“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” 1 Kings 17:1

As I conclude the message on the ministry of altars, I need to tell you that you should have a strong prayer altar if you want to be an altar of God. I think every Christian should be an altar of God. I also believe that the minimum time commitment for prayer is one hour (Matthew 26:40), but we should let the Holy Spirit guide us. Those in the ministry should give a tithe of a day (2 hours, 30 minutes). I am sounding religious this morning, aren't I? Well, this was what brought spiritual visitation to Cornelius in Act 10. Religion can actually provide the discipline that the fire of the Holy Ghost can ignite.

“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.” Daniel 6:10

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12

My mentor, when I was studying for a PhD in Christian ministries, told us a life story (by the way, I also have a PhD in Chemical Engineering). A Christian lady was escorting him through a bush path because it was the shortest route to his house. Along the way, they met seven ritualists one of them carrying fresh human blood. There was a severe battle. The ritualists made terrible incantations. Within five minutes, the lady had quoted over a hundred bible verses. The ritualists were defeated, dropped the pot of blood, and ran for their lives. It is not a gender issue. If you become an altar for God, the kingdom of God will find an expression on earth through you.

You are God’s altar in Jesus' name.

Prayer for today: Oh God baptize me with an hunger for you in Jesus' name.

Salvation: Lord Jesus, I believe in the forgiveness of sin and in the redemption from the power of darkness through your blood. I confess you as my Savior and Lord.  I invite you into my life to save my soul. Holy Spirit, come into my heart and make me what you want me to be. Thank you Lord for saving me in Jesus name.
