Your choice, your life 3

The third criterion for making a good choice is the love test. There are three dimensions for the love test; these are the love for God, the love for yourself and the love for your neighbor. The question of whether any of the options will be against God, yourself or your neighbor should help you to eliminate some of the options and make the right choice. Particularly when it involves your neighbor, you must remember that whatever choice you make will come back to you whether good or bad.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12

People are more important than things.  Relationship can give you things, but things will never bring you a true relationship. If your choice will compromise your relationship with others and bring harm to them, you must reject it. If your choice has criminal content and has the potential of sending you to jail, you must also reject it. Your choice must not only consider your neighbor, but yourself and God.

Prayer for today: Oh God, let your love fill my heart and let me be guided to make right choices in Jesus name.
