Walking in God’s power 4

“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” 1 Kings 17:1

Yesterday I emphasized the importance of spending time with Jesus. This morning I want to say more on that with emphasis on mantle of power and the word encounter. These are the ingredients that make the word of an ordinary man to become exactly God’s word. Elijah was standing before God and said to Ahab that things would happen according to his own word.

“Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;” John 10:34-35
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

The talk in Christian world about mantle of power and fire began with Elijah. He eventually transferred the mantle to Elisha. Where did he get the mantle from? He got it from the presence of God. Jesus said to the disciple if they tarried they would be endued with power from on high. He also affirmed the scripture that he who has a word encounter can demonstrate power as God. Beloved, the mantle of power today is not a physical cloth. It is the Holy Ghost on a believer and the revelation of God’s word in his or her life.

May you encounter the word of God and may you be endued with power from on high in the Jesus name.
Prayer for today: Let the mantle of fire fall upon me in Jesus name.
