Good but not God (1)

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

Beware of actions that feel good but are not godly. Check if the action will please God or it will please your flesh only. Many troubles could be avoided if we were spirit controlled rather than flesh controlled. Your knowledge of the scripture will help you to discern whether your action is godly or it only feels good.

“And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.  And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.” 2 Samuel 6:6-7
“And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash; Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the Lord: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.” 1 Samuel 13:11-12.

It felt good to stop the ark of God from falling, but was it godly to touch the ark for any reason? Uzzah was trying to help stop the ark from falling but he was breaking a law of God. He died doing what was supposed to be good. Saul offered the sacrifice that Samuel was supposed to do. He had a justification for doing it. The people were scattered, the enemies were coming. But was he supposed to do it? It felt good but it was not godly. Joseph refused to sleep with his master’s wife. He said, “how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” It might felt good but it was not godly so he refused. God took him to his destination. Don’t mortgage your destiny because it feels good when you know that it is not godly.

May you submit to God in every situation you find yourself in Jesus name.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help me to live a life that is pleasing unto you in your Holy name.
