“……. but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God..” 1 Samuel
30:6
Whether you are pursuing a vision
or you are facing a challenge, self-encouragement is needed to obtain a
positive result. Encouragement means giving support, confidence or hope. Now if
you are in the Lord, self encouragement becomes easy. Because you will be
drawing the support, the strength and the hope from the Lord who can be
trusted. The Lord can also bless you with faithful and committed people who
will support you, but your trust must be in Him.
“Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.”
Psalms 27:3
“When thou passest through the
waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow
thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither
shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2
“But they that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
In our text today, David was
facing a serious challenge. The enemy had taken his wives, children, properties
and those of his soldiers. They have all cried and lost their strength as well.
The people were blaming David and they wanted to stone in him as if that would
brought back everything. But David encouraged himself in the Lord. He suddenly
remembered that God could turn things around for him. He turned to God and was
able to overcome the challenge.
Beloved, encourage yourself with
this: God will see you through. Your dreams shall be realized. The present
trouble shall not last because God is with you.
Prayer for today: Help me oh God in
Jesus name.
