“And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness
charity.” 2 Peter 1:7
The word charity is translated
love. Your faith is not complete without love (1 Cor 13:13). This is talking
about the agape love: unconditional love, God-kind of love. This is the kind of
love that every Christian must allow in his or her heart. Jesus interpreted the
Ten Commandments in the New Testament as the law of love.
“Master, which is the great
commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the
first and great commandment. And the
second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two
commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Mathew 22:36-40
If you love God, you will be
devoted to Him. You will obey and serve Him (Job 36:11). If you love your neighbor
as yourself, you will not steal from him, lie against him or kill him. Jesus
went on to explain that your neighbor is anyone who you can help (Luke
10:36-37). The world is in trouble today because the love of money (mammon) and
lust love (Eros) have taken over the people. Unfortunately, the church is not
being left out.
May the true love of God dwell in
our spirit in Jesus name.
Prayer for today: Oh Lord help me to walk
in true and unconditional love in Jesus name.
