Building your house on the rock 5

“And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.” 2 Samuel 11: 15
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20

For you to build your house on the rock, you must not be alone neither should you have wrong people around you. The Bible says woe unto him that is alone (Ecc 4:10). The people that surround you will determine whether you will survive the challenges of life or not. More importantly, if you have chosen your friends, you have chosen your future. In our text, David knew that Uriah would survive the hottest battle if someone had his back. So he wrote that he should be set in the hottest battle and Joab should withdraw from him. If people have not withdrawn from Uriah, he would not have been killed.

“Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them. And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.” 2 Chronicles 24: 17-18

Joash served God when Johoiada was alive and was his closest person. However, when he died and the princes of Judah took over, they led Joash to do evil in the sight of God. Don’t be deceived, peer pressure is not only with young people, but it also affects adults too.

If you have the right people around you, they will lead you to please God and will also support you during challenging times. May your life attract the right people and reject the wrong people in Jesus name.

Prayer for today: I refuse to be alone in my journey in life, I call in destiny helpers in Jesus name.
