“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18 KJV
As believers in Christ, we are born of God and endowed with divine authority from the moment we believe. The authority to heal, cast out demons, and overcome deadly threats is a natural result of our spiritual rebirth (Mark 16:17-18). We see this power at work in Acts 3:6, where Peter, filled with boldness, declared to the lame man, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” This authority is inherited through our identity in Christ (John 1:12), for we are born not of flesh but of the Spirit (John 3:8).
However, walking in this authority requires conscious alignment with God’s Word and will. Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7). Authority is sustained through obedience, prayer, and intimacy with God. Luke 10:19 reminds us that we have the power to “tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy,” and nothing shall harm us. Do not accept limitations God has not placed on you—“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God…” (2 Corinthians 10:4). Speak as one who believes (2 Corinthians 4:13), because “all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23). Stand firm in your inheritance and walk boldly, make bold positive declarations, for you were born with authority!
Prophetic word: I prophesy over your life today, in the name of Jesus, that you will rise in the fullness of the authority God has given you. Every chain of fear, delay, and oppression is broken, and you shall walk in dominion over every power that stands against you (Luke 10:19). The Spirit of God within you will manifest with boldness and wisdom, and you will decree a thing, and it shall be established (Job 22:28). As Peter spoke healing to the lame man (Acts 3:6), so shall your words carry power to bring transformation, healing, and deliverance wherever you go. I declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and you will fulfill every divine purpose written concerning your life.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the authority You have given me through Christ Jesus. I declare that I will no longer walk as one who is defeated, but as one who reigns with Christ (Ephesians 2:6). Lord, strengthen my faith and teach me to abide in You so that my words and actions align with Your will (John 15:7). Every spirit, situation, or challenge that opposes Your purpose for my life, I command it to bow in Jesus’ name. I receive fresh grace to lay hands on the sick and see them recover, to speak life into dead situations, and to walk in victory daily. Thank You, Lord, for making me more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37). Amen.
