“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Christian giving is motivated by six
factors that include love, faith, hope, obedience, sacrifice and worship. Let
me talk about love motivated giving today. Christian giving is motivated first
by love for God and secondly love for your neighbor. When you give as a
Christian, you are fulfilling the law and the prophet . You can give without
loving but you cannot love without giving.
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt
love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto
it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Mathew
22:37-40
“If a brother or sister is without
clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace,
be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for
their body, what use is that?.” James 2:5-16
When you give to God’s work, you
are expressing your love towards God. When you give to your neighbor, you are
expressing your love towards him or her. The bible says love is the fulfilling
of the law (Romans 13:8).
May your life be full of love in
Jesus name.
Prayer for today: Oh God help me to walk
in love in your house and towards my neighbors in Jesus name.
