So you need a breakthrough?3

“And he strengthened himself, built up all the wall that was broken, raised it up to the towers, and built another wall outside; also he repaired the Millo in the City of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.” 2 Chronicles 32:5

I am still on Elisha’s story but my text this morning is taken from 2 Chronicles 32:5. If you are interested in a long-lasting definite breakthrough, you must conquer yourself first. You must tell your flesh what to do and not the flesh telling you what to do. You must strengthen yourself, repair the broken walls, put yourself on the right side of God. You must conquer greed, impatient, ignorance, powerlessness, laziness and such. If you don’t conquer the enemy within, you cannot conquer the enemy without. You must be willing to stay in the right course of action until it yields the expected result. There is no overnight breakthrough. If it happens overnight, that night must have been long years of discipline, hard work, consistency, and persistency.

Elisha followed Elijah until the end. He was disciplined enough to keep his eyes on the goal. He refused to stay at Gilgal, Bethel, Jericho but kept on following the one who had what he wanted. See how many protégées have left their mentors half way today! When Elijah crossed Jordan, he crossed with him believing that he would be able to cross back alone. He was disciplined enough to do what must be done so that he could have the double portion of Elijah’s anointing.

May you conquer yourself, may you experience the long desired breakthrough in Jesus name.

Prayer for today: Let my body, soul and spirit cooperate with my breakthrough in Jesus name.
