“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” Colossians 3:5
This world is a realm of man. The devil is the prince of this world but needs the cooperation of man to exercise his authority on earth. Wherever the work of the flesh is in operation, devil always operate freely. This is why the work of the flesh is easily confused with the work of the devil.
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21.
The first thing you should know is that if the work of the flesh is dealt with you will not struggle with the work of the devil. The second thing you need to know is that the work of the flesh must be killed but the devil must be resisted and bound. Let me quickly borrow a word from fire extinguishing. To kill a fire, you must starve it of oxygen. To kill the work of the flesh you must starve it of its desire. You don’t speak in tongue when you are under temptation of fornication, you flee. The third thing you need to know is that it is easier to deal with the devil and demons than to deal with the work of the flesh. You can pray in the tongues, get anointed and drive out devils but you cannot cast out the work of the flesh. The work of the flesh must be killed. Don’t let hatred, un-forgiveness, strife and others dominate your life. As a child of God, kill them before they kill you. Finally, if you submit yourself to God, the devil cannot have his way in your life.
May you be empowered to exercise dominion over the devil and the flesh in Jesus name.
Prayer for today: I destroy every manifestation of the work of the flesh in my life, I choose to live by the Spirit and in obedience to God in Jesus name.
