“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a
companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20
I mentioned the importance of
faith in the first message on walking in your God-given victory. Faith is
necessary in life’s journey. The bible says the just shall live by faith. You
will need to keep friends who encourage your faith if you really want to walk
in victory. The company you keep can determine whether you are a fool or a wise
person; so also it can determine whether you will live in faith or unbelief.
“And David said, What have I now
done? Is there not a cause? And he turned
from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people
answered him again after the former manner.” 1 Samuel 17:29-30
“Then saith he to Thomas, Reach
hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust
it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.” John 20:27
If a person is not encouraging you
to trust God, he will make you to suffer harm. This is because faith is key for
you to walk in victory. Friendship is by choice and it is detrimental to be sentimental.
You may have to turn away from people who discourage you from faith as David
turned away from Eliab, so that you can enjoy your victory in God. Examine the
company you are keeping today and determine whether you are a fool or a wise
person. If you want to have a victorious life, you will have to choose friends
who will encourage your faith in God, in yourself and in the vision that God
has given you. If you are married to a spouse who does not encourage your
faith, you will need to work on yourself and your spouse, and ask God to help
you. Getting a family friend who can help both of you to grow in faith is
important.
May you find friends who will
encourage your faith in Jesus name.
Prayer
for today: Oh God increase my faith in Jesus name.
