Covenant and obedience

“And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.  And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.  And the angel of the Lord said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.” Genesis 18:8-10

Covenants are activated by obedience.

Sarah had encouraged Abraham to go into Hagar because of her delay in child bearing. The moment Hagar saw that she was pregnant she revolted against Sarah her master. Eventually she had to flee because of the pressure from Sarah. However, God recognized the child as that of Abraham and as such he was a partaker of Abrahamic covenant and blessing. Hagar was going to make her son missed this because of her pride. An angel appeared to her and told her to swallow her pride and submit to Sarah. She obeyed, as a result, her son and his generation became blessed.

Beloved, obedience is a key factor to enjoy God’s covenant even the new covenant which is better than the old and sealed by the blood of Jesus. Whatever it may cost you, walk in obedience so that you and your coming generation shall be blessed.

May you be blessed in all your ways in Jesus name.

Prayer for today: O God help me to walk in obedience to your commandments and enjoy the blessing you have for me in Jesus name.
