“Then said these men, We shall not find any
occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law
of his God.” Daniel 6:5
The secret of true champions is that they are
committed to the law of their God in all situations.
The enemies of Daniel found him faultless! They
decided to plot against him by influencing the King to promulgate a decree that
no man should pray to any other god except the king, otherwise the person would
be thrown into the Lions’ den. They invoked a death threat against Daniel to
prevent him from exercising his secret. Daniel refused, he kept praying. As a
result he maintained his championship: he went to Lions’ den and came back
alive but his enemies and their families were swallowed up. Joseph story is
similar. He told Potiphar’s wife, “how then can I do this great wickedness, and
sin against God?” Although he went to prison but the prison was closer to the
throne than Potiphar’s house. He became Egypt Prime Minister two years later.
David said, “A true champion’s delight is in the
law of his God” Psalm 1:2 paraphrased. Beloved I don’t care how wealthy you are
or what position you hold in the church, if you are not committed to the Law of
God, you are not a true champion!! But the good news is that you can begin
again. God can give you a new beginning and you can walk in his ways and laws.
You can repent and ask God to help you.
