Depend totally on God!

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30(KJV)

Dependence on God is the foundation of a fruitful and victorious life. Independence is not freedom; it is trouble. It means you become your own source. To depend on God is to be desperate for His presence and to trust and obey Him in all situations and for all things. Jesus, our perfect example, declared in John 5:30 that He could do nothing by Himself. This teaches us that even the Son of God leaned fully on the Father for all things. Similarly, in John 15:5, Jesus reminded us that apart from Him, we can do nothing. When we abide in Him, we draw from His strength, wisdom, and provision, just as branches draw sustenance from the vine. Dependence on God is not a weakness but a source of divine power and grace. David, the man after God’s own heart, understood this truth deeply, saying, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1). Trusting God as our source eliminates fear and anxiety, for He has promised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

The Bible is filled with examples of those who depended on God and saw His miraculous hand at work. When Moses was tasked with leading the Israelites through the wilderness, he boldly proclaimed, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). He knew their success depended entirely on God’s presence. Likewise, Jehoshaphat, when faced with overwhelming enemies, cried out, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12). God responded with victory, showing that He fights for those who trust Him. Psalms 125:1 assures us that those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. Let us, therefore, commit every aspect of our lives to Him—our health, finances, relationships, and decisions. Depend totally on God and let Him be the pillar that holds your life, for He is faithful and will never fail you.

Prophetic word: The Lord says, "I am your source, your strength, and your guide. Fear not, for I am with you. I have gone ahead of you to level the mountains and make your paths straight. As you trust and depend on Me, I will release My favor, My provision, and My power into every area of your life. Do not lean on your understanding or the works of your hands, for I will do exceedingly and abundantly above all you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). As you abide in Me, I will cause you to bear much fruit, and your life will become a testimony of My goodness. Be still and know that I am God, for I will be exalted in your life. You will not lack, for I am your Shepherd. You will not be moved, for I am your Rock. Trust in Me completely, and watch Me open the windows of heaven over you."

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come before You, acknowledging that without You, we can do nothing. You are our source, our strength, and our ever-present help in times of need. We repent of any areas in our lives where we have relied on our own abilities and not on You. Teach us to trust You completely and to depend on Your wisdom, provision, and grace. Lord, just as Jesus did nothing without You, help us to seek Your will and Your presence in all that we do. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
