“O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” Psalm 90:14 (KJV)
We are in the early days of 2025. Early mercy ushers in new things and sets the stage for divine favor and rejoicing throughout the year. The cry of Bartimaeus for mercy (Mark 10:46-51) is a profound example of how mercy can instantly transform a situation. Though surrounded by obstacles, his plea stopped Jesus in His tracks, and he received sight. Similarly, Jacob found mercy in his encounter with Esau (Genesis 33:4) after wrestling with God and receiving a blessing. Romans 9:15-16 reminds us that God’s mercy is not based on human effort but on His sovereign will. Mercy is the foundation for new opportunities, restoration, and breakthrough, making every moment a testimony of God’s goodness. Psalm 90:14 captures the essence of this: "O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days." Early mercy turns mourning into joy, doubt into confidence, and stagnation into progress.
Mercy not only brings new things but also secures divine intervention and protection. Proverbs 16:7 shows how God’s mercy causes even enemies to be at peace with the righteous, as seen when Laban was warned in a dream to harm Jacob no more (Genesis 31:24). Mercy also suspends judgment, as in the case of the thief on the cross who obtained paradise through Christ’s compassion (Luke 23:43). When God arises in mercy, favor follows: "Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yea, the set time, is come" (Psalm 102:13). Mercy even fought for the Israelites, overthrowing Pharaoh and his hosts in the Red Sea (Psalm 136:15). As James 2:13 declares, mercy triumphs over judgment. Let us seek God’s mercy through prayer, obedience, and by showing mercy to others (Matthew 5:7). May His mercy flow early into your life this year, unlocking rejoicing and gladness throughout the year. Amen!
Prophetic word: I declare over your life that the mercy of the Lord will locate you early in this season. His mercy will open new doors and unlock unprecedented opportunities for you. Just as Bartimaeus received instant healing and Jacob found peace and restoration with Esau, so shall you encounter divine breakthroughs and reconciliations. The mercy of God will cause judgments to be suspended and favor to be poured out upon you. You will rise with joy and gladness, and your days will be marked by the manifestation of His goodness. Your set time for favor has come, and you shall walk in victory and abundance, for the Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your mercy that is new every morning and for the assurance of Your faithfulness. Lord, I ask for early mercy upon my life, my family, and all that concerns me. Satisfy me early with Your mercy, O God, so that I may rejoice and be glad all my days (Psalm 90:14). Let Your mercy speak for me where my strength fails, and let it open doors of favor and breakthrough. Arise, O Lord, and have mercy upon me, for my set time for favor has come (Psalm 102:13). Suspend every judgment against me and let mercy triumph over every accusation (James 2:13). Lord, make my ways pleasing to You and cause my enemies to be at peace with me (Proverbs 16:7). Fight my battles as You overthrew Pharaoh in the Red Sea, and let Your mercy endure in every area of my life (Psalm 136:15). Help me to show mercy to others, that I may also obtain mercy (Matthew 5:7). Thank You for the new things Your mercy is bringing into my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
