“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18KJV
As I celebrate another year of God's mercy and faithfulness, I am reminded that the foundation of a great destiny in Christ is the anointing and the blessing. Without the anointing, even the most gifted remain limited. David was just a shepherd until he was anointed by Samuel, and from that moment, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him mightily (1 Samuel 16:13). Saul, too, was turned into another man when the Spirit of God came upon him (1 Samuel 10:6). Even our Lord Jesus, though sinless and full of wisdom, waited to be anointed with the Holy Ghost and power before launching into ministry (Acts 10:38). This divine empowerment is what makes ordinary people do extraordinary things.
In addition to the anointing, the blessing of God is what causes increase and sustains divine favor. “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Isaac sowed in famine and reaped a hundredfold because he was blessed (Genesis 26:12–13). Jacob, though a fugitive, encountered the blessing and became exceedingly prosperous (Genesis 32:10). In this world of competition and chaos, the blessing attracts your portion, opens doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:7), and causes you to stand out. Today, I invite you to pray boldly—ask the Lord to anoint you afresh and to bless you indeed (Isaiah 32:15; Genesis 32:26; 1 Chronicles 4:9-10). Be confident in your calling, and declare over your life: I am anointed and blessed!
Prophetic word: Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you for such a time as this. You are not ordinary—you are My vessel, filled with My Spirit and set apart for good works. Even as David rose from the sheepfold to the palace, so shall your elevation come swiftly. I am opening new doors before you—doors no man can shut. The oil upon your life will attract divine helpers, favor in unlikely places, and clarity for every next step. You shall not labor in vain, for My blessing is upon you, and it shall distinguish you in the land of the living. I will cause rivers to flow in your dry places and make your wilderness blossom like Eden. Be bold, for I have placed My word in your mouth; speak it forth and watch Me perform it. For I watch over My word to fulfill it, and surely, you shall see the manifestation of every promise I have made concerning your life. (Isaiah 55:11, Jeremiah 1:12, Psalm 89:20-24)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your faithfulness over my life. On this special day, I acknowledge that without Your anointing and blessing, I am nothing. Father, I ask for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon me—anoint me with power, with wisdom, and with boldness to walk in the fullness of my calling. Let Your Spirit rest mightily upon me, just as it did upon Jesus, David, and the apostles. Lord, I pray that Your blessing will overtake me and establish me in every good work. Cause me to prosper like Isaac in famine, to rise like Joseph in captivity, and to rule like Esther in a foreign land. Let Your word go ahead of me and break every barrier. May doors of favor, influence, and destiny alignment swing open before me. Father, make me a carrier of Your glory. I declare that I am anointed, I am blessed, and I am rising to the fullness of who You created me to be—in Jesus’ name, Amen.
