Oh God, where are you?

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2

Oh God, where are You? This heartfelt cry echoes through time, from the lips of saints and seekers alike. But God answers through His Word: “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee… when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned” (Isaiah 43:2). This promise is an assurance of divine presence in the trials. Many in scripture asked the same question—David cried, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1), yet he later declared, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me” (Psalm 23:4). The God who promised never to leave us is not absent in the storm; He is often most present in what feels like His silence.

Maybe you're asking, "Where are You, Oh God?" Let me remind you: He is both in the promise and the process. The journey of faith often begins with a divine encounter—a dream like Joseph’s (Genesis 37:7), a vision like Habakkuk's (Habakkuk 2:1-2), or a promise confirmed in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). But then comes the process: Joseph endured the pit, slavery, and prison (Genesis 39:1-3); Abraham waited years for Isaac (Hebrews 6:12). These were not detours but the refining road to fulfillment. If you’re in that “middle ground,” don’t despair. His word in Isaiah 43 is still true. And if you feel you haven't even received a promise yet—stay in His presence. The entrance of His word gives light (Psalm 119:130), and in His light, you will see light for your destiny.

Prophetic word: The Lord says, “I have not forgotten you. I am the God who sees (El Roi), the God who hears, and the God who remembers. Though the season has been long, and the night dark, I am birthing something new in you. Do not despise the hidden place, for it is there I am equipping you for the manifestation of what I promised. What looks like delay is divine preparation. What seems like silence is sacred shaping. I am aligning people, places, and timing for your lifting. In the days to come, you will say, ‘Had it not been the Lord who was on my side…’ You will rejoice and not remember the pain, for I will give you beauty for ashes and joy for mourning. Stay rooted in Me—your Redeemer lives.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You because You are the Author and Finisher of my faith. I come before You in surrender, trusting Your timing, Your plan, and Your love. Even when I don’t see it, You are working. I ask for grace to wait well, faith to believe again, and strength to walk boldly through every part of the process. Lord, shine Your light on my path, and breathe upon every dry place in my life. Speak peace over my storms, and remind my soul that You are near. Release angelic help, divine connections, and open doors that no man can shut. Restore what I have lost, and multiply what remains. Let my testimony glorify You, and let my life declare Your faithfulness. I silence every lie of the enemy and declare: I am chosen, I am seen, I am called, and I am rising! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
