“And the patriachs moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt but God was with him. And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and his house” Acts 7:9-10.
Joseph's life is a testament to the power of God's presence and faithfulness. Despite being sold into slavery by his own brothers (Genesis 37:28), falsely accused, and imprisoned (Genesis 39:20), Joseph remained steadfast in his commitment to God. As a result, God delivered him from all his afflictions, just as He delivered Daniel from the lions' den (Daniel 6:22) and David from Saul’s relentless pursuit (1 Samuel 23:14). Joseph's unwavering trust in God brought him favor in the sight of Pharaoh (Genesis 41:37-41), much like Esther found favor with King Ahasuerus (Esther 2:17). God also endowed Joseph with divine wisdom to interpret dreams and manage Egypt’s resources (Genesis 41:39), reminiscent of the wisdom given to Solomon (1 Kings 3:12). Ultimately, God enthroned Joseph, elevating him from the pit to the palace as governor of Egypt (Genesis 41:41-44), just as He exalted Mordecai from obscurity to prominence (Esther 10:3).
The same God who worked mightily in Joseph's life is ready to do the same for you. His Word assures us that He does not show partiality (Acts 10:34-35). Value His presence as Joseph did, keeping yourself aligned with His will and avoiding anything that displeases Him (Psalm 15:1-2). Trust in Him wholeheartedly and obey His instructions, for those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength and rise above challenges (Isaiah 40:31). This month and beyond, may God's mighty hand be upon you, delivering you from afflictions, granting you favor, filling you with wisdom, and lifting you to a place of honor, just as He did for Joseph. In Jesus' name, amen!
