“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
The call to seek first the kingdom of God is a call to reorder our
desires, priorities, and pursuits. When the reality of this scripture is not
revealed to a person, such a person may live merely by human effort, chasing
needs. Jesus teaches that when our hearts are fixed on God, His kingdom, and His
righteousness, every necessary thing will be added. Therefore, whatever the
need may be, the believer is not called to pursue things first, but to pursue
God and His Word.
The world constantly presents many distractions, but the believer must
not be carried away by them. What we truly need is a word from the Lord,
because one divine word can settle what years of human struggle cannot resolve.
Mary understood this when she sat at the feet of Jesus to hear His word, while
Martha was distracted by many activities. Jesus declared that Mary had chosen
“that good part” which would not be taken away from her (Luke 10:39–42). When
we pursue God sincerely, we position ourselves to hear Him, receive direction,
and walk in the provision that follows obedience.
Prophetic Word: As you seek the Lord above every need, desire, and distraction, may the Lord release a fresh word that will bring clarity,
provision, peace, and divine settlement into your life. What others are
struggling to chase shall be added to you by the mercy and favour of God.
Prayer:
Father, give me the grace to seek You first above all things.
Deliver me from distractions and misplaced priorities. Open my ears to hear
Your word, and let Your word guide my steps, strengthen my faith, and release
every blessing ordained for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
