Positioning for an encounter

“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.” Acts 10:1-3 KJV

In this month of new beginnings, deliberately position yourself for a divine encounter. Cornelius cultivated a life of reverence for God, consistent prayer, generosity and godly influence over his household. His encounter was not accidental; it came within the context of a life that continually sought to please God. Although an encounter cannot be earned by human effort, a heart that sincerely seeks God becomes sensitive and responsive to His visitation. Therefore, draw closer to God through prayer, obedience, worship, fellowship and service to others. Those who seek Him wholeheartedly will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13; Hebrews 11:6).

No one truly encounters God and remains the same. Jacob encountered God in his helplessness and emerged with a transformed identity and destiny (Genesis 32:24–28). Hannah poured out her heart before the Lord and left His presence with renewed confidence before her circumstances changed (1 Samuel 1:9–18). Cyrus was identified and empowered for a divine assignment, while David was found and anointed for God’s purpose (Isaiah 45:1–3; Psalm 89:20). As you seek God, surrender your plans to Him and align yourself with His purpose. Your divine encounter may bring direction, transformation, restoration or empowerment, but it will always move you closer to the fulfilment of God’s will for your life.

Prophetic Word: In this month of new beginnings, the Lord will draw you into a life-changing encounter. Every veil covering your spiritual understanding is removed, and every distraction preventing you from hearing God clearly is silenced.  You will not miss your appointed time of visitation, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, create in me a heart that genuinely seeks and reverences You. Deliver me from spiritual carelessness, distractions and anything that prevents me from enjoying consistent fellowship with You. Help me to live a life of prayer, obedience, generosity and service. In this month of new beginnings, grant me a divine encounter that will transform my life.  In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
