“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 KJV
The Bible encourages us to keep our eyes on Jesus if we desire to make our faith work. Jesus was not moved about the process but kept on holding onto the expectation, which was the joy that was set before Him. No matter what you go through, don’t lose hold of your expectation. After all, faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1). To make your faith work, you must act on God’s word and refuse to be swayed by external circumstances.
Making your faith work requires steadfast focus on Jesus and unwavering confidence in His promises. The Bible is filled with examples of those who activated their faith by looking beyond their circumstances and trusting in God’s word. Abraham, despite his old age and Sarah’s barrenness, did not waver in unbelief but was “strong in faith, giving glory to God” (Romans 4:20 KJV). He believed that what God had promised, He was able to perform. Similarly, when Peter stepped out of the boat at Jesus' command, he walked on water—his faith was working—until he shifted his focus to the wind and waves (Matthew 14:30). The moment doubt entered, he began to sink. This teaches us that faith works when we keep our eyes on Jesus, not on the challenges surrounding us.
Prophetic word: The Lord says, "Do not be moved by what you see, for I am working behind the scenes to bring forth My promises in your life. Keep your eyes on Me, and do not waver in faith. Just as I sustained Abraham and fulfilled My word in his life, so will I do for you. The storm around you is only temporary, but My word is eternal. If you will trust Me and step out in faith, you will walk upon the waters of impossibilities. I am the author and the finisher of your faith—what I have started, I will surely complete. Hold fast to your confession, for your breakthrough is near. The just shall live by faith, and as you believe, you shall see My glory manifest in your life." (Habakkuk 2:4, Hebrews 12:2).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for being the author and the finisher of my faith. Lord, help me to fix my eyes on Jesus and not on the storms of life. Strengthen me to trust in Your word, even when circumstances seem contrary. Like Abraham, let my faith not waver, but let me be fully persuaded that what You have promised, You will fulfill. Father, I receive the grace to step out in faith, to act upon Your word, and to walk in victory. I silence every voice of doubt and fear, and I declare that my faith is alive and working. Let testimonies arise in my life as I trust in You. Thank You, Lord, for making my faith effective and producing results. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen!
