Spiritual hunger and thirst 3

“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14 KJV.

Spiritual maturity is birthed from a deep and consistent hunger for the things of God. Our text indicates that while spiritual milk is necessary for babes in Christ, growth demands more. Just as physical growth requires a shift from milk to solid food, spiritual advancement requires us to feed on the weightier matters of the Word, those that instruct, correct, and build discernment. Jesus declared in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” The more we long for His word, the more we grow in wisdom and sound judgment. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, who searched the Scriptures daily, our hunger should move us to deeper study, stronger convictions, and greater obedience.

Beloved, our distinction as God’s peculiar treasure (Exodus 19:5) lies in our sensitivity and response to His voice. In Matthew 13:52, Jesus likens the kingdom-instructed scribe to a householder who brings out treasures both new and old, this speaks of spiritual depth, maturity, and perspective. To respond rightly to life’s changing seasons, whether peace or pressure, we must hunger for more of God and be willing to accept both His encouragement and His correction. Proverbs 3:11-12 reminds us not to despise the Lord’s discipline, for “whom the Lord loveth He correcteth.” Let your desire for God and His Word outweigh all else. Feed on His truth, drink deeply from His Spirit, and you will walk in discernment, strength, and divine purpose.

Prophetic word: The Lord says, “My child, I am calling you deeper. The days of spiritual milk have passed, and I am drawing you into the depths of My wisdom, My power, and My presence. I have placed a divine hunger within you, not to frustrate you, but to fill you. As you press in, I will pour out. As you seek Me with all your heart, you will find treasures hidden in My Word and power in My presence. Do not settle for the shallow when I have called you to the deep. Even now, I am awakening your spiritual senses, your ears to hear, your eyes to see, and your heart to discern. Fear not the stretching, for it is making you strong. Fear not the correction, for it is leading you to glory. As you eat the solid food of My Word, you shall stand in boldness, walk in clarity, and overcome every challenge. You are My chosen vessel, set apart to carry revelation, release wisdom, and reflect My glory.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the invitation to grow deeper in You. Lord, I repent for every time I settled for spiritual comfort and resisted the call to maturity. Today, I ask that You awaken a new thirst in me for Your Word, Your voice, and Your truth. Feed me with the solid food of heaven, and train my senses to discern good from evil. Open my eyes to see what You see and my ears to hear what You are saying. Father, make me a vessel of honor, useful for Your purpose. Let me not reject Your correction, but embrace it as a sign of Your love. As I pursue You, let the fire of Your Spirit burn brighter in me. Let me be transformed from glory to glory, becoming more like Christ in every way. I declare that I am no longer a child tossed by every wind, but a mature son/daughter walking in divine authority and purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
