How do you see yourself?

“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:13-14KJV

You need to have a correct perspective of yourself in order to execute your God’s given assignments. God sees you as His image. If God cannot fail, you cannot fail. If God cannot be defeated, you cannot be defeated. If all things are possible with God, all things are possible with you. Never doubt your God’s given ability and grace. You are God’s image. You are His likeness. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

“Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.” Joshua 1:6

" And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.” Judges 6:12

Your past does not matter; God has a glorious future for you. I discovered from the scriptures that God always made sure that the man He wanted to use had the right perspective of himself. He told Joshua to be strong and courageous. He told a timid Gideon that he was a man of valor. Your situation does not determine who you are and what you can do. You have inside you what it takes to turn any situation around. God sees you as a co-creator with Him, a winner, and a success. Do not see yourself less than the way God sees you..

I see you becoming what God wants you to be, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for today: O God help me to see myself the way you see me in Jesus’ name

Salvation: Lord Jesus, I believe in the forgiveness of sin and in the redemption from the power of darkness through your blood. I confess you as my Savior and Lord.  I invite you into my life to save my soul. Holy Spirit, come into my heart and make me what you want me to be. Thank you Lord for saving me in Jesus name.

Spiritual growth 4

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” 1 Corinthians 9:27KJV

There cannot be spiritual growth without spiritual discipline. There are routines and rituals involved in your relationship with God. If you are not disciplined to follow these routines and rituals, you will not grow. In the old covenant, the rituals included establishing an altar to the Lord. In the new covenant, you cannot live anyhow or like the people of the world; you must be the altar, and you must fellowship with the Lord daily. You must study the word of God daily to build your soul and spirit. You must deal with the flesh and its lust. If you don’t deal with the flesh, you cannot grow spiritually.

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6KJV

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” Galatians 5:16-17KJV

Spiritual growth will give you the spiritual authority to deal with life's issues. However, the flesh will fight your growth in the spirit. This is where spiritual discipline comes in. You must put the flesh under subjection. The flesh can be trained to obey the spirit. But this also requires spiritual discipline. The fact that most Christians fail in this area and are unable to attain the spiritual authority that God has for them makes this a serious matter. Ask God to help you as you decide to deal with the flesh and its lust for you to grow.

The flesh shall not have dominion over you in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for today: I take authority over the flesh and its lust and I receive the fullness of God’s Spirit, Jesus’ name

Spiritual growth 3

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you.” 1 Corinthians 11:1-2NIV

Let us look at the art of following as pertaining to spiritual growth. The art of following someone is copying or imitating them. Paul said to the Corinthians that they should imitate him as he imitates Christ. If you follow someone, you will walk in the same grace and anointing as the person. You can grow by simply following the example of a mature believer. This can also be called spiritual mentoring. God has put grace in men that can be shared and passed on.

“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” 2 Timothy 1:5KJV

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12KJV

The art of following involves hard work and discipline. It is not for spiritually lazy men and women. You must follow those who have testimonies through faith and patience. Whoever you follow can make you into who he is (Matthew 4:19). Read the story of how Elisha got the double portion of the anointing of Elijah (2Kings 2). He was focused and disciplined; he did not allow anything to deter him, not even the sons of the prophet. The question is, Who is your spiritual mentor?

May you follow Jesus faithfully and committedly in Jesus’ name,

Prayer for today: Oh God, connect me with people you have sent into my life for my spiritual growth, Jesus’ name

Spiritual growth 2

“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42

There are some unwanted situations that will not leave you alone until you grow. There are certain authority that belong to you that you will not be able to exercise until you grow. Growing in your walk with the Lord is spiritual growth. Three things are important for you to grow spiritually. You must be teachable, ready for discipline and ready to obey. If no one can talk to you as a Christian, you cannot grow. The more you grow, the more you are able to walk in the wisdom and power of God.

"And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” Acts 20:32

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29

There is always room for growth, no matter your spiritual level. There is always more to learn from God. If you don’t grow, you will not only be powerless, but you will also be open to error. Read your bible and pray every day, if you want to grow—these were the words we were told when we became believers in Christ Jesus. We were also told not to forsake the assembly of believers. More importantly, what we called quiet time was explained to us as our personal fellowship time with the Lord.

May you not be without power in Jesus name,

Prayer for today: Oh God, walk with me in my Christian race and put in me the hunger for more of You, Jesus’ name

Spiritual growth 1

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

You must grow spiritually to be able to discern good from evil. The child in you must grow to become a Son for you to take your inheritance in God’s kingdom. When a child is born, he is fully packaged for what heaven has designed him to be. However, he has to grow to become a Son for the full manifestation of heaven’s design for him. Until a child grows into a son, he looks ordinary. Jesus even came to this world as a child for the purpose of bringing salvation to it. He grew up like a normal child and was recognized as a carpenter. He looked ordinary to his friends and the people He grew up with.  He was not only growing physically, but He was growing spiritually until He became a Son. He grew to become a Son to manifest His destiny.

“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” Mark 6:3

“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all” Galatians 4:1

Beloved, the child in you must grow to become a son if you are going to be who God wants you to be. You must be intentional about your spiritual growth. You cannot remain a child forever, you must become a son.  Be hungry for the food and drink that only heaven can give. Be convinced that you have been born for a purpose, and as you grow in grace and knowledge, the purpose of God will be fulfilled in your life.

May the child in you grow into a son in Jesus' name,

Prayer for today Oh God make me what you want me to be in Jesus’ name.

Tarrying in God’s presence

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

You surely need the wisdom and power of God in your life. If you learn to tarry in His presence, you will walk in the wisdom and power of God. If you really desire to generate spiritual energy, you must learn to tarry in God’s presence. The ability to tarry is one of the significant differences between weak and strong Christians. If you cultivate the habit of lingering in God’s presence, you will carry His glory and power. This is the answer to our weaknesses and powerlessness.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

“The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” Psalms 110:1

“And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.” Exodus 34:30

Maybe you are feeling weak and have no or little energy as a Christian; begin to wait upon the Lord. Sit in His presence, worshiping, meditating, and praying until His glory comes upon you. You cannot have an encounter with Him and not carry His energy. But I can assure you that the devil will not want you to do this. He will try to use the busyness of this generation to stop you. But I pray for you, may you receive grace to tarry in His presence in Jesus' name.

May you be a carrier of God’s power in Jesus name,

Prayer for today: Oh God, let your light and energy enter into me in Jesus’ name.

Instructions are key

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.” 2 chronicles 20:17.

You don’t always need to fight to win a battle, but you always need to receive and obey instructions. The credibility of the person giving the instruction is what validates the instruction. If God gives you instructions and you obey, you can never lose the battle.  Your personal fellowship with the Holy Spirit through the word and prayer is more important than anything in this life. This is because this is where you get personal instruction to win in life.

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And when David enquired of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees..” 2 Samuel 5:22-23

“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.  And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.” Luke 5:4-6

The size of your battle does not matter, nor does the potency of your physical weapon. What matters is the source of the instruction you are acting on. The people of Judah only had to sing in the battle to win. Naaman only had to wash in the Jordan to be cleansed. The friend of the bridegroom only had to fetch water into the pot to have the best wine. No matter what you are going through, ask God what you should do, and don’t leave until you hear Him clearly.

May you be willing and obedient in every situation, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for today: Oh God, help me to receive instruction daily from you, in Jesus’ name.
